Latest Alberta political poll a warning to Smith to stop her pandemic-fixated culture war

What is surprising (and should be troubling for Smith and the UCP) is that the New Dems are ahead in Calgary, the city that went from having the lowest unemployment rate among Canada’s largest cities to having the highest under the NDP’s energy and environmental policies.

The latest Alberta political poll — by a highly respected, Alberta-based pollster — is not good news for the UCP.

Even after clearing out the much-maligned Jason Kenney and replacing him with Danielle Smith, the UCP still trail the NDP by nine points (47 per cent to 38 per cent), province-wide. Smith’s selection has earned the United Conservatives no surge in support.
